One UI 6.1.1 reaching Galaxy S23, S23 FE & Galaxy Tab S9

Samsung is getting up to speed when it comes to updates for its flagship phones. The company is starting the rollout of One UI 6.1.1, already reaching models like the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23 FE, and Galaxy Tab S9. According to reports, the company delayed the One UI 7 beta to focus on pushing the latest One UI stable version to more devices.

Samsung debuted One UI 6.1.1 on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6. The update is an intermediate step between One UI 6 and One UI 7, bringing some new AI-powered features and other improvements. The company was taking a little longer than expected to push the update to its other eligible high-end devices. Fortunately, it looks like you won’t have to wait too long to receive it. Samsung has already started the rollout in its home country, Korea. If everything goes well, devices in other regions should get it in the next few weeks.

The Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23 FE, and Galaxy Tab S9 are getting One UI 6.1.1 in Korea

Starting with the Galaxy S23 series, tipster Tarun Vats posted a screenshot of the update changelog on X. The devices in the lineup are receiving One UI 6.1.1 with the build number S918NKSU4CXH7/S918NOKR4CXH7/S918NKSU4CXH7. As for the Galaxy S23 FE, the company’s latest budget mobile flagship, the One UI 6.1.1 update has build number S711NKSU3BXH7. Devices on the Galaxy Tab S9 are getting the new firmware with build number X91xNKOU4BXHB.

Just like the Galaxy S24 series, the changelog shows the update as One U 6.1 instead of One UI 6.1.1. That said, on Galaxy phones, it brings some Quality of life (QoL) improvements in addition to the new AI features. For instance, users can set to answer calls with a tap instead of a swipe. They can also set calls to automatically switch to speaker, for those who tend to do it manually on every call. Plus, you can now set the new Maximum Restrictions settings for improved security.

Interestingly, the Galaxy Tab S9 update brings the August security patch. On the other hand, the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23 FE OTAs include the September security patch.
