Dragon Age: The Veilguard won’t have Denuvo, gets Ray Tracing Requirements

by · DSOGaming

Bioware has just confirmed that Dragon Age: The Veilguard won’t have any 3rd party DRM on PC. This means that the game won’t have Denuvo, the anti-tamper tech that EA has used in pretty much all of its latest PC releases.

The devs have also shared some more detailed PC requirements for their action RPG. Alongside the “traditional” PC specs, we also got detailed requirements for its Ray Tracing version.

Let’s begin with the non-RT version. To run the game at 4K with an average of 60fps, you’ll need an Intel Core i9 12900K or an AMD Ryzen 9 7950X with 16GB of RAM and an NVIDIA RTX 4080 or an AMD Radeon 7900XTX.

To have all the RT effects enabled, you’ll need an Intel Core i9 9900K or an AMD Ryzen 7 3700X with 16GB of RAM and an NVIDIA RTX 3080 or an AMD Radeon 6800XT. That’s for gaming at 1440p with 30fps.

Finally, for gaming at 4K with 30fps with all the bells and whistles enabled, you’ll need an Intel Core i9 12900K or an AMD Ryzen 9 7950X with 16GB of RAM and an NVIDIA RTX 4080 or an AMD Radeon 7900XTX. That’s the exact PC system that can run the non-RT version at 4K with 60fps.

In its notes, BioWare did not include any upscaling methods being used to hit these resolutions and framerates. Thus, we can assume that these PC specs are for native resolutions. OK, I must be blind because the notes suggest that an optional upscaler is used to hit those framerates. So, those numbers are most likely with DLSS Super Resolution and/or FSR Super Resolution.

Since Dragon Age: The Veilguard won’t have any 3rd party DRM, it won’t be available for pre-loading on PC. That’s a bummer as the game will require 100GB of free disk space. Still, I can’t really complain about it.

EA will release Dragon Age: The Veilguard on October 31st. As we’ve already reported, the game will support ray-traced reflections and ray-traced shadows. Moreover, there will be support for NVIDIA’s DLSS 3 (though it seems that it won’t support AMD FSR 3.0 FG). Not only that but the game won’t require the EA App.

Enjoy and stay tuned for more!
