Edoardo Bove collapses: Inter v Fiorentina match abandoned amid awful scenes
by John Jones, Tom Victor · Wales OnlineThe Serie A match between Fiorentina and Inter Milan has been abandoned after midfielder Edoardo Bove collapsed on the pitch in awful scenes.
The 22-year-old Fiorentina star, who is on loan from Roma, reportedly collapsed with no one around him in the 16th minute of the game. Players from both sides rushed towards Bove after he fell to the ground and were visibly distressed as paramedics attended to him, with some in tears.
Sky Italia reports that Bove was breathing but unconscious after he was taken off the pitch on a stretcher and rushed to hospital. Both sets of players were then directed back to their changing rooms, with fans reportedly exiting the stadium shortly afterwards as the decision was later taken to abandone the match.
Bove has been a consistent presence for Fiorentina since his loan move during the summer transfer window, scoring his first goal for Viola in October in a 5-1 triumph over parent club Roma.
The Italian international has played for his country all the way up to under 21 level, but is yet to be capped for the senior side.
Fans and players have expressed their concern on social media and sent their best wishes to Bove, with Fiorentina keeper David de Gea writing 'God please' on social media along with a praying hands emoji.
