Gary Neville has told Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta to sit back and watch the Premier League clash between title rivals Liverpool and Manchester City.

The Gunners cut the deficit on both teams on Saturday, thanks to a 5-2 win over West Ham at the London Stadium. First-half goals from Gabriel, Leandro Trossard, Martin Odegaard, Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka saw them take all three points from the game.

That result moved Arsenal above Man City and into second place in the Premier League table. It also saw them cut the gap to leaders Liverpool to six points.

The game came just under 24 hours before Liverpool take on Man City at Anfield. It’s a match Arsenal will be watching with interest, with the result impacting the title race in one way or another.

Speaking after the win over West Ham, Neville tole Arteta to sit back and enjoy the match between Arsenal’s two rivals after his team did their job. “It is a really good night for Arsenal, who were outstanding for the first half an hour,” he told Sky Sports.

“It comes with a little ‘but’ in the encouragement they gave West Ham in conceding those two goals. But Arteta will be happy and he can now sit back and relax and watch Liverpool and Man City tomorrow, the other two teams who genuinely have a chance of winning the title, and see where they are up to.”

It seems like Arteta is taking the former Man United man’s advice. Speaking in his post-match press conference, Arteta responded when asked if he will be watching the game .

"100%," he said. "It’s a big match, a beautiful match to watch. Two of the best teams in Europe facing each other. So it’s a big one."
