Sir Alex Ferguson will no longer work for Manchester United after the 2024-25 Premier League season.

As part of cost-cutting measures, the new leadership group informed the 82-year-old that his global ambassadorial role will come to an end. The role, which he had worked in since his retirement from management in 2013, was understood to be worth around £2million per year.

However, he won't be left strapped for cash, as Sir Alex's numerous other business interests have seen him amass a net worth that is the envy of the masses. While he is known for his time in management, the building blocks of his business enterprises were laid as early as 1983.

According to Celebrity Net Worth, Ferguson is worth a staggering £53.6million ($70m). He has numerous business interests which feed into this extraordinary wealth.

Ferguson owns a business - ACF Sports Promotions Ltd - where his sons Mark, Darren and Jason serve as directors. Sir Alex's late wife, Lady Cathy, was also a director before she passed away at the age of 84 in October 2023.

According to the most recent financial reports, ACF boasts £24.3m in assets and investments. This figure, as of June 2023, marks an increase from the £22.7m recorded 12 months prior - a rise of £1.6m, reports the Manchester Evening News.

The business, which lists "other sports activities" as its nature, has Sir Alex raking in cash from book deals, event speaking engagements and personal appearances since he hung up his manager's hat at United.

It also boasts a comfortable £5.1m in reserves and contributed £188,832 to the nation's coffers in corporation tax. In addition, there's a cool £2m worth of football treasures that belong to ACF, displayed proudly in museums and academic institutions.

The name of his enterprise, which was Initiated in 1983, is made up of his initials, which include his middle name 'Chapman'. Moreover, Boyle Sports also claims the Scot has made millions from horseracing.

He has been the proud owner of many horses such as Rock of Gibraltar, Caldwell Potter and Clan des Obeaux. Horses under his ownership are believed to have made £6.8m over the years.

Despite the fact he is earning well, many key figures were disappointed to see Ferguson be dismissed by the club. Two of his former players Rio Ferdinand and Eric Cantona were particularly shocked by the news.

The latter took to social media and said: "Sir Alex Ferguson should be able to do anything he wants at the club until the day he dies. Such a lack of respect. It's totally scandalous. Sir Alex Ferguson will be my boss forever! And I throw them all in a big bag of s***!"
