Tributes pour for 'kind' 84-year-old woman tragically killed in Laois collision

Tributes have poured in for an 84-year-old woman who tragically lost her life following a collision on a Laois motorway last week.

Catherine ‘Kitty’ Boland sadly passed away following a two car collision on the M7 at Borris-on-Ossoryon in Laois shortly after 4pm on Thursday.

Catherine will be dearly missed by her loving family, including her beloved sister Pauline, sisters-in-law Joan and Mary, and all of her nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, great grand-nieces, great grand-nephews, as well as her many friends and family.

Catherine will repose in Hugh Ryan's Funeral Home, Slievenamon Road, Thurles on Monday, December 2 from 5pm to 7pm. Requiem mass will take place on Tuesday, December 3 at 10.30am followed by Cremation Service in Shannon Crematorium at 3pm.

One mourner wrote: “Sincere sympathy to Pauline and to all the Boland family on the sad death of Kitty. I always enjoyed the chat with Mary and Kitty or, yourself, Pauline. I will be thinking of ye. God bless.”

“Dear Kitty, I just want to say thank you for all the years of kindness, encouragement and support you gave to us growing up in Leugh across the field from you and granny,” another penned.

“We were always in your house and have wonderful childhood memories with you, thank you for everything and for being such a great friend and Aunt to us, we will truly miss you and I know we will speak your name often.

“Leugh will never be the same now that you are gone, rest peacefully Kitty, you’ll always be loved and never forgotten.”

While one more said: “I am so sorry to hear of the tragic passing of Kitty. I knew Kitty for a long long time and she was always very kind. We had many chats over a cup of tea through the years. May Kitty now rest in peace”.
