Friedkin and Everton update seen as ‘nightmare’ – Fans ‘trembling’ after they thought worry was gone

Dan Friedkin’s potential new effort to buy Everton is being seen as a ‘nightmare’ at Roma, leaving fans ‘trembling’ after they thought they could forget about it.

That’s according to AS Roma Live, who cover the situation today after reports on the weekend suggested Friedkin was back in for the Toffees.

Everton remain up for sale, with Farhad Moshiri desperate to get out of the club and put them in the hands of new owners.

A deal appeared to have been done with the Friedkin Group, who own Roma and other clubs, earlier this year but the American Group elected to pull out, despite having paid off various debts ahead of a takeover at Goodison Park.

Since they walked away, Crystal Palace shareholder John Textor has emerged as the frontrunner and has been pushing to get a deal done in the last few weeks.

He has even gone public with that, insisting a deal is 90% done and sharing confidence he can sell his shares in Palace quickly to open up the path to Everton.

That has seemingly sparked the Friedkin Group back into action and they are now believed to be exploring the possibility of buying Everton once again.

That’s not gone down well in Rome, with AS Roma Live making it clear the fact the ownership group are back in the spotlight isn’t something they want.

Fans thought the ‘nightmare’ idea of the Friedkins going to Everton had been banished but now they’re ‘trembling’ at the potential takeover being revived.

They believe that any purchase of Everton could lead to a ‘slow but inexorable disengagement’ from Roma. That would be a nightmare for them and they’re now trembling at the idea of it happening again.

Even a step back from Roma is hard to imagine given the spending this summer backed by the group and the fact that the new stadium project is starting.

Quite simply, they want the Friedkins to give up on Everton entirely and aren’t happy with them toying with the idea of a takeover at Goodison again.
