National Television Awards viewers claim Martin Lewis is 'fuming'
by Jason Chester for MailOnline · Mail OnlineMartin Lewis could be forgiven for feeling short-changed on Wednesday evening after failing to win a National Television Awards.
The presenter, famed for his useful money saving tips, was among the nominees in the category for Factual Entertainment at the annual ceremony, held at London's O2 Arena.
But his Martin's Money Show ultimately lost out, with Loose Women panelist and housework obsessive Stacey Solomon winning the accolade for reality TV series Sort Your Life Out.
In a strong category, Solomon also beat popular shows Clarkson's Farm, Gogglebox and The Yorkshire Vet to the award.
But viewers were more concerned with Lewis and his apparent disappointment while watching the TV presenter take to the stage.
'Martin Lewis didn't look too happy,' shared on X, formerly Twitter.
A second added: 'You could tell Martin Lewis was raging he wanted to win he’s sitting there thinking I do all this s** for what nothing.'
While a third noted: 'Martin Lewis is fuuuuming.'
Evidently in agreement, a fourth wrote: 'Martin Lewis is livid.'
Elsewhere Kiell Smith-Bynoe left viewers stunned with his own reaction at the National Television Awards on Wednesday evening.
The actor looked outraged after BBC show Ghosts - in which he takes a lead role as Mike Cooper - missed out on the award for Best Comedy.
Instead, the accolade was awarded to Irish sitcom Mrs. Brown's Boys, with Smith-Bynoe, 35, left to glare from the audience as show creator Brendan O'Carroll and his co-stars took to the stage.
The actor eventually made light of the loss by sharing a meme of a young woman 'reporting a crime,' prompting followers to claim he had been 'robbed.'
It was the second consecutive Best Comedy award for Mrs. Brown's Boys, which is filmed in front of a live studio audience, after beating Ghosts in the same category in 2023.
Only three weeks earlier, Smith-Bynoe had addressed their win in post shared on X, formerly Twitter. alongside a link to the NTA voting website.
Captioning the post, he wrote: 'Don't let Mrs Browns Boys beat us again.'
His subsequent reaction upon losing for the second time was inevitably highlighted across social media, with some viewers unsure if he was serious.
'Can't tell if Kiell Smith-Bynoe was doing his 'angry'/belligerent act like he did on Taskmaster or was genuinely fuming at Mrs Brown's Boys win!' wrote one.
A second added: 'That #ghosts actors face just when he didn't win the award!"
Elsewhere a third joked: "Omg the face on that guy!"
Ant and Dec were awarded the Best Presenter honour for a record 23rd time as they led the big winners at the annual event.
While the presenting duo continued their record-breaking winning streak, it was Mr Bates Vs The Post Office who were the big champions of the night, with three prizes.
Toby Jones was awarded the prize for Serial Drama Performance for his critically-acclaimed performance in the series.
In his speech, the actor offered his congratulations to the real-life Post Office campaigner Sir Alan Bates, after he tied the knot with his longtime partner Susanne on Richard Branson's private island at the weekend.
He added: 'This is an extraordinary project, brilliantly commissioned, directed with flare, and the best actors I could possibly hope to work with. I'm really honoured.'
Mr Bates vs The Post Office drew renewed public attention to the subpostmasters who were wrongly prosecuted during the Horizon IT scandal, and this was also recognised with the ceremony's Impact Award later in the evening.
Despite a year plagued with scandals and controversy, Strictly Come Dancing scooped the prize for Talent Show at the National Television Awards on Wednesday night.
Amid fears for the show's future over accusations of abuse aimed at professional dancers Giovanni Pernice and Graziano Di Prima, the BBC show beat out Britain's Got Talent, The Great British Bake Off, Masterchef and The Voice to take one of the night's big prizes.
The NTAs are voted for by the public, with the win for Strictly a clear sign that viewers are still rooting for the show as it prepares to return for its 20th series on Saturday night.
Hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman were joined on stage by the show's professional dancers and the creative team as they accepted the gong.
Elsewhere, This Morning suffered a shock loss, with the ITV1 show missing out on the coveted Daytime prize to fan-favourite The Chase.
It came after a challenging year for the show, which saw Holly Willoughby depart in October, before being replaced by Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard.
The Bruce Forsyth Entertainment Awards was given to I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here! for the fifth time.
Davina McCall fought back tears as she was awarded the Special Recognition Prize by her longtime friend Hannah Waddingham.
She said: 'Thank you so much, this means so much. I can't even begin to tell you, I don't even know where to start.
'I love my job, I feel so priviliged to be able to share it with you. You might like some of it, not all of it. I've presented some Turkeys, I know!'
The night was brought to a close with Emmerdale winning the prize for Serial Drama.
