6,637 cases disposed of at National Lok Adalat

As many as 6,637 cases were disposed of at a National Lok Adalat organised by the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) at the Vanchiyoor court complex and in four taluks in the district on Saturday.

An amount of ₹43 crore was awarded in various cases at the adalat.

On complaints by nationalised and private banks, it was decided to award ₹5.71 crore. As many as 269 Motor Accidents Claims Tribunal cases were settled, and ₹17.41 crore awarded.

Special sittings for petty cases held in 20 magistrate courts in the district in connection with the adalat saw 2,000 cases disposed of. An amount of ₹15 lakh was collected as fine.

Principal District Judge and District Legal Services Authority chairperson S. Naseera inaugurated the adalat. DLSA secretary and senior civil judge S. Shamnad presided.
