Trump Nominates Kash Patel As FBI Director

US President-elect Donald Trump has nominated Indian-American Pentagon official Kashyap “Kash” Patel as the next FBI Director.

A staunch Trump loyalist, Patel has been a vocal critic of the US government’s “deep state” and has pushed for significant reforms within federal agencies.

Trump praised Patel, calling him a “brilliant lawyer, investigator, and ‘America First’ fighter” who has spent his career exposing corruption and defending justice.

Patel’s nomination is seen as a response to Trump’s dissatisfaction with the current FBI leadership under Christopher Wray, whom he appointed in 2017.

Patel, 44, has publicly advocated for radical changes to the FBI, including dismantling its intelligence operations. He famously suggested closing the FBI’s Hoover building and repurposing it as a “museum of the deep state,” while sending its 7,000 employees to focus on criminal investigations instead.

He would work alongside Trump’s proposed Attorney General, Pam Bondi, to restore the FBI’s original values of Fidelity, Bravery, and Integrity.

Born in Queens, New York, to Gujarati immigrants, Patel’s career spans law, counterterrorism, and national security. He gained prominence in Trump’s first term, especially for his role in investigating the FBI’s Russia probe and drafting the controversial “Kash Memo” that alleged bias in the agency’s investigation of Trump’s 2016 campaign.
