Huawei's global YouTube channel a posts Mate XT Ultimate video, hinting at a global launch

When Huawei announced the Mate XT Ultimate, its one-of-a-kind tri-fold phone, it only detailed plans for a launch in China and made no mention of a global release. Will this be yet another cool phone that never leaves China? Perhaps not, seeing how the company is using its global social networking account to promote the XT.

First, the company shared these promo images on X. It doesn’t say anything about a wide launch, though.

Additionally, Huawei posted a minute-long YouTube video that shows off the key design elements of the Mate XT Ultimate, both the technological achievements that made the phone possible and the premium design touches that are worthy of a phone of this price.

The video, of course, makes no mention of a global launch. But why bother posting on the global accounts then – just to flex on other manufacturers? Well, when one company’s dual-fold phone is 12.1mm thick and Huawei’s tri-fold phone is 12.8mm, then, yes, it’s quite a flex.

Anyway, Huawei’s X account just posted about a Huawei Mate Pad launch on September 19 with a focus on the cool new Glide Keyboard (think Magic Keyboard). The reservation campaign for the XT in China ends on September 19 too. That’s Thursday next week and we will be keeping our ears open for any mentions of the tri-foldable XT during the MatePad event.

In the meantime, you can read up more on the Huawei Mate XT Ultimate – here is a round-up of early hands-on reports, details about the chipset and the eye-watering repair costs that future XT owners can look forward to.
