Malaika's mother said that she saw Anil’s slippers in the living room and was looking for him. She did not find him in the balcony and leaned over the railing to find him lying down.

People used to consider Anil as Malaika's biological father, but when Malaika shared a post about her father's death on Instagram, she wrote 'Anil Kuldip Mehta'. This left fans scratching their heads. Anil was born in 1962, while Malaika's birth year is 1973. The age gap between both is just of 11 years and netizens felt something fishy in their family background.
As per a report in The Economic Times, a source close to the family confirmed that Anil Kuldip Mehta was Malaika and Amrita Arora's stepfather. The source also said that Malaika and Amrita's biological father was Anil Arora, who was a Punjabi and worked in the Indian Merchant Navy.
Malaika Arora's mother, Joyce Polycarp is a Malayali Christian and has baptized her daughters, Malaika Arora and Amrita Arora. Her profession is still not known but she keeps sharing posts about food and recipes. She also shares food-related tips and delicious recipes.

If reports are to be believed then, Anil Mehta made a phone call to both of his daughters, Malaika and Amrita few hours before taking his life. He told them that he is tired. Post the conversation, he jumped off from the balcony.

According to an ETimes report, Anil Mehta had a chat with his younger daughter Amrita Arora before his death. A police source revealed to ETimes that Mehta called his daughter in the morning. The source also said that he call details are indicative of the fact that he did call Amrita Arora, as she is closer to his father and was quite his favourite.
