Strictly Come Dancing's recent scandals didn't affect their chances at the National Television Awards.

The controversial BBC programme was awarded Best Talent Show on Wednesday night, despite being surrounded by claims of a toxic atmosphere behind the scenes for the last ten months. The landmark victory marks the ninth year in a row that the show famed for its glitz and glamour has been crowned the Best. Presenting the award to the show, telly stars AJ Odudu and Vernon Kay revealed that shows such as The Voice UK, Great British Bake Off, Britain's Got Talent and Master Chef UK had been unsuccessful.

Former professional dancers Giovanni Pernice and Graziano Di Prima have faced accusations of bullying in recent months following claims made by their celebrity dancers. Actress Amanda Abbington claimed she had been suffering from PTSD after working with Giovanni.

Meanwhile, reality star Zara McDermott previously admitted her Strictly experience was far from what she had dreamt of after being partnered with Graziano, who was accused of kicking her. Returning pro, Aljaz Skorjanec has also faced claims about his behaviour following an alleged incident with a female dancer while on tour. The Mirror understands that no formal complaint has been made about Aljaz regarding the tour to the BBC.

It was suggested on Monday that the results of the ongoing probe surrounding the show would be released in a matter of days. Fans have been awaiting news on the outcome of the internal investigation. Abbington is believed to have been the first person to raise concerns, having accused Giovanni of "bullying" and "aggressive behaviour." However, Giovanni has denied "abusive or threatening behaviour".

Reports claimed that the Beebs were keen to draw a line under the scandal ahead of the glitzy launch of the 20th series which launches this Saturday. The Sun reported that with just days to go before the new series' launch, "the £250,000 probe has now reviewed all evidence". It adds that Amanda is prepared for "bad news" as she suspects bosses have "sided" with him.

A source told the outlet: "The BBC are hopeful they will finally be able to share the findings of the probe but considering there have been so many delays, nothing is set in stone. It is accepted the dossier won't be released in full but instead, a simple statement may be put out covering the conclusion. Either way, there are many interested parties and it could pave the way for more celebrities or crew members to speak up."

Amid the controversy, the BBC announced that same month that it was introducing "additional steps to strengthen welfare and support" on the show. They are said to include now having a production team member present in training room rehearsals "at all times".
