Davina McCall has opened up about the unique "table of death" she keeps in her bathroom, which displays pictures of her deceased loved ones.

In a candid interview, the television host and fitness expert admitted she's recently placed a photograph of her late mother, Florence, among the memorial tableau.

"I can now, in hindsight, appreciate that she was a pretty f*****g exciting person," Davina said to The Observer magazine. "She just wasn't a brilliant mother."

She recounts several disturbing moments from her youth, such as when she would witness her mother indecently exposing herself to strangers on the streets. At the tender age of 12, Davina first took drugs with her mother, which led to a harrowing journey through cocaine and heroin abuse.

Currently appearing on the TV programme My Mum, Your Dad, Davina described her tumultuous relationship with Florence, including their brief reconciliation before her wedding to second husband Matthew Robertson in June 2000. However, after Florence sold a story to the press alleging Davina's attendance at Narcotics Anonymous and hinting at a potential relapse, the daughter cut off all contact.

Despite the estrangement, after Florence passed away, Davina found herself detailing her mother's character to her new partner, Michael Douglas: "I said to Michael, 'You would have loved her,' and he said, 'I've met her.'"

"He went, 'She's in here,' and he put his hand on my heart. I thought 'F***. It was like I'd been denying my mum's existence in me for all those years'."

"He said, 'All the bits that I like about you, your naughty bits, your party bits, I feel like that's your mum'."

Davina then recounted how she eventually sought out her mother's third husband for a photograph of Florence, having decided she was ready to embrace her mum's "good side".

Following their encounter, she placed Florence's photo on what she affectionately calls her "table of death", which despite its name, Davina insists is a "lovely" featureallowing her to see her loved ones every day after her shower.

She describes: "Every time we get out of the shower, we can see the people we've loved and lost smiling at us. And she's on there now, rolling a joint, wearing a belt buckle that says, `I'm the boss:".

Completing this healing journey, Michael found a matching belt buckle and gifted it to Davina on her 56th birthday. Recently, while picking up her first French passport, Davina proudly sported the bucklea memento that embodies a blend of humour and legacy.
