Sir Paul McCartney has given fans a thrilling update about his forthcoming tour. The legendary artist returned to the stage this week to commence the Got Back tour.

The global tour has kicked off in Montevideo, Uruguay, this week before making its way to the UK in December. The 82-year-old has unveiled new footage of him rehearsing with his band, where they can be seen performing a new Beatles track, Now and Then.

The song, which was released in November 2023, was crafted from a home demo of a ballad that John Lennon had recorded in 1977 but never completed. Surviving band members Sir Paul and Sir Ringo Starr finalised the track using overdubs and guitar tracks from George Harrison, who passed away in 2001.

They also utilised AI technology to isolate the vocals from the home demo on the song. Sir Paul had never performed the song live before this week's concert.

Alongside the new track, Sir Paul can also be heard belting out other classics from the Fab Four including Helter Skelter from 1968's The Beatles (commonly referred to as The White Album), I've Got A Feeling from 1970's Let It Be, and Carry That Weight from 1969's Abbey Road, reports the Liverpool Echo.

A snippet revealing a setlist for the upcoming tour suggests Sir Paul McCartney will grace the stage with Wings' classics such as 'Jet', 'Junior's Farm' and 'Let Em In'. Additionally, Beatles aficionados may get to relive the nostalgia with early hits like 'Can't Buy Me Love' and 'Love Me Do', not forgetting tracks from the era of 'Revolver (1966)' such as 'Got To Get You Into My Life'.

Eager about the impending concerts, Sir Paul shared his anticipation: "I'm excited to be ending my year and 2024 tour dates in the UK. It's always such a special feeling to play shows on our home soil. It's going to be an amazing end to the year. Let's get set to party. I can't wait to see you."

Fans in Manchester can catch two performances at Co-op Live on December 14-15, while Londoners will have their turn at The O2 on December 18-19. The musical journey also extends beyond the UK, reaching audiences in Argentina, Chile, Peru, France, and Spain.

Marking a grand return to arena stages since 2018, Sir Paul's forthcoming tour represents his first after thrilling the masses at the Glastonbury Pyramid Stage in 2022.
