Lookfantastic's Black Friday edit costs £40 but is products inside whose worth totals over £175. Beauty writer Eve Rowlands opened it to see if it was worth it - it's safe to say it was a hit

When it comes to beauty box edits - and ones filled with good quality skincare and beauty goodies at that - Lookfantastic is one of the industry's big hitters. With its regular subscription boxes receiving high praise month on month with its carefully curated and viral-packed hauls, and its limited edition edits selling out in rapid time, it's no surprise that its Black Friday box, which launched just a few days ago, has already made waves with beauty buffs - including me.
While the Black Friday Edit from the brand costs £40 - a step up from its usual monthly £15 box - its five full-sized and one fun-sized products inside are worth over £175. That's a massive saving of £135 (very on brand considering it's an edit named after the impending - and mega - Black Friday sales) which can be put towards additional Christmas pressies for your loved ones.
The products inside are, in my opinion, ideal for indulging in a bit of self-care with a mix of face masks, body scrubs and serums.

Now, what I will say is that if you're a make-up lover, this may not be the box for you - I say this because you won't find any lippy, eyeshadow, mascara etc. Although you will find some Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Freeze Extreme Hold Laminated-Look Sculpting Wax, which is perfect for those who want full looking laminated-style brows that defy gravity - without the need (and faff) to visit your salon.
As someone whose extent of brow work is waxing and plucking, it's safe to say I've not quite perfected the technique, but for someone whose brows are a big part of their look, this product will be fab. What I will say is that you need your own brush to apply it.
Aside from this, the rest of the box is a self-care, natural beauty, skincare saviour. Its MZ Skin Anti-Pollution Hydrating Face Mask Single (worth £25) is super indulgent with its soothing gold-toned gel-like face mask. A real treat. Coming in two parts - one for your forehead and nose, one for the bottom half of your face - the mask is infused with vitamin C, tranexamic acid, liquorice root extract, lumicease and cotton stem cells (for UV, infrared and blue light protection) and hyaluronic complex and feels lovely on as it's quite cooling.
Having left it on for 15 minutes, my skin was left glowy, felt plumped and dewy. My complexion was slightly sticky after I rubbed the remains of the formula into my skin and remained that way for a few hours. Although my skin was certainly brighter than before and felt gorgeously smooth.
As I have a relatively pea-sized head, I did find the mask slipping a bit with the slides flapping around the side of my face and my nose not really fitting the mould, but that didn't ruin the experience.
To give your face a natural glow in winter without the need for plastering bronzer on your face, Tan Luxe's Super Glow Hyaluronic Self-Tan Serum (£36) is a lovely product that doesn't feel like you're applying fake tan.
The result is rapid - not your usual 'few hours and bronzed' tanner - as the serum has been formulated to build up a gradual tan on your face and décolleté. While I'm yet to see an Ibiza-style glow having only used it a small amount, I like how smooth and hydrated it left my skin.
This is because the serum is infused with Cocoa Seed Extract, Hyaluronic Acid and vitamin E (to name a few ingredients), which 'delivers a wave of nourishing hydration' while providing 'anti-ageing benefits'. I'll take plumped up, hydrated and youthful looking skin that glows throughout winter.
As is usually the case with Lookfantastic's beauty boxes, a viral product is included - this time, the Sol De Janeiro's viral Cheirosa 62 Fragrance Mist. Although we're entering the chillier seasons, this smelt like summer in a bottle with notes of vanilla, pistachio and caramel. While this level of sweetness isn't my usual go-to in a perfume, it's definitely a lovely pick me up - plus, it's small enough to fit in my bag on the go, which is ideal.
One of my favourite products in the box Rituals Ritual of Sakura Body Scrub (worth £18). What I first noticed upon opening the full size tub was the gorgeous smell. It was sweet and fruity thanks to its cherry blossom scent.
Applying it in the shower, the scrub left my skin silky smooth - it even tackled my dry elbows and knees well. With a Japanese oil blend, featuring rice bran, Tsubaki and jojoba, it's super moisturising and I'm excited to use it more regularly to get the smoothest skin of my life.
Because you can't just lather it on in a rush, applying the scrub was a really nice way to take a moment to relax ahead of a busy day.
One product I'm excited about is the GRANDE Cosmetics GrandeLASH-MD Lash Enhancing Serum. While I can't comment on it currently - as the award-winning serum promises epic results in 12 weeks- I'm looking forward to finding out whether my pathetic, wispy lashes will be given a new lease of life, without the need for mascara.
The serum is packed with 'a blend of vitamins, peptides, and amino acids to promote the appearance of naturally longer, thicker looking lashes in 4-6 weeks, with full improvement in 3 months' and shoppers say that it's an 'absolute must' for leaving their lashes 'long and luxurious'. So... watch this space!
All in the all, the box and its contents are a real treat. Plus, they all come packaged in a neat white box that is covered in an elegant black sleeve that has the LF monogram stamped on the front.
My only qualm is that the mask didn't quite fit my small head and the brow wax didn't come with a complimenting tool to apply it with. Aside from that, I can see myself reaching for the other products on a daily basis and topping them up when empty.
With Black Friday in our midst, Lookfantastic isn't the only beauty retailer gracing skincare and make-up fans with limited edition boxes - Glossybox, whose monthly subscription box is a popular choice for many beauty lovers, has revealed: "Black Friday is one of the biggest events in the GLOSSYBOX calendar. Not only do we have our GLOSSYBOX Limited Edition boxes but there are also a whole host of other incredible beauty bargains to enjoy."
Fancy some deals rather than a box? Boots has launched a sale that sees some incredible brands and products reduced ahead of November 29th (AKA Black Friday).
To get Lookfantastic's Black Friday beauty edit before it sells out - which we're predicting could be the case - get it here for £40.
