Amanda Holden apologises as she misses start of Heart FM show after 'horrendous night'

Amanda Holden was forced to apologise to her Heart FM co-host Jason King after she missed the start of their radio show after enjoying a 'horrendous night'

Amanda Holden had to issue an apology to her Heart FM colleague after the arrival of a new puppy led to her being tardy for work.

The 53 year old didn't make it on time for the start of her radio programme on Tuesday (September 17) morning, leaving Jason King, known as JK, to cope alone. Jason, 49, is filling in for Jamie Theakston, who recently disclosed his stage one laryngeal cancer diagnosis.

As the show commenced, JK commented: "A big shout out first of all to Amanda Holden who is currently in her taxi, I hope there is a sausage bap in there. I really hope so."

With Amanda running behind, JK called her live on air to check on her whereabouts. She attributed her delay to the newest furry member of her family.

Amanda shared her experience with the pup: "I got one of those little doggies with a heartbeat and a heat pad in for the puppy and she was so good, she was downstairs, literally didn't hear a squeak out of her."

She continued: "But all over the house we put on music to help your puppy sleep. I reckon all of us slept brilliantly. I completely recommend it."

"I reckon I didn't wake up because of the flipping puppy music. I'm shattered, I've never had such a good night's sleep in my life."

Confessing that she thinks her alarm did go off, Amanda surmised that she must have simply slept through it. JK responded with a mix of amusement and disbelief: "I can't believe that you've had a lovely sleep and you've got a new puppy."

"You're supposed to have the most horrendous night's sleep ever. But it's totally the opposite."

Amanda shared that the puppy, temporarily taken in from Battersea Dogs Home, has been "as good as gold". Amanda had earlier confided that she informed her husband Chris Hughes about fostering the pup, before hinting at a more permanent arrangement.

With a touch of humour, she remarked she was "fostering" the dog with a "very tiny f", explaining: "It got through to Chris better to say we are fostering."
