Heart Radio host Amanda Holden has given fans an update about her new puppy, who is yet to be named.

The 53-year-old seized the opportunity to foster her new four-legged friend without discussing it with her husband Chris Hughes first, after learning that she and two other puppies had been abandoned outside Battersea Dogs and Cats Home.

Chatting about her latest family member on the airwaves this week, she informed listeners: "I'm saying foster as a really tiny, loose term. It got through to Chris better than saying I was 'fostering'.

"Yes, it is a replacement for my eldest daughter who's gone to university!"

In a new update, the presenter revealed that the dog still doesn't have a name and they are unsure of her breed mix.

On how she had been getting on with her other pets, Amanda said her dog Rudie had been "very tolerant" of the new pup, who had been following him around in the garden.

"She just lies on her back like, 'I'm cute, don't touch me', it's very much like mine and Chris' relationship," she quipped. "Except, the other way around."

When asked by her co-host JK how Chris was adjusting to the situation, she admitted that while her husband is growing fond of the pup, he doesn't seem eager to keep her permanently.

She added: "Chris is gently falling in love with her, but he did say something not very good yesterday," reports the Express.

"He said, 'What mix do you think she is?' I said, 'Well, she's a bit of a Shih Tzu and maybe a bit of a Cavalier, I don't know'.

"And then JK, you suggested getting a DNA kit for her. So, I'm doing the DNA kit and in a few weeks, I'll announce actually what she is. But, do you know what Chris said?

"He said, 'It won't really matter because when she finds her forever home, we won't know how big she is going to be'."

Not having any of it, Amanda stated: "I just looked at him and thought, 'Are you stupid?' Christopher, she ain't going nowhere!"

Concluding her pup update, the talent judge suggested that adoption might be in the cards, as they continue to see how the new addition settles in with the family's other dogs.
