Man horrified after witnessing his wife eat a muffin for the first time

A man has been left baffled after watching his wife tuck into a muffin for the first time - as people online say one thing she does with the bakery treat is 'criminal'

Let's face it, we all have foods that we eat in an unconventional way.

Maybe you're the sort of person who eats pizza with a knife and fork, or perhaps you take apart your custard cream biscuits instead of wolfing them down whole. We've all got our quirks and strange habits, especially when it comes to food. What you might consider as perfectly normal would be sacrilege to someone else, and vice versa.

But one woman has taken the crown for weird food habits after her husband posted on social media to ask what other people thought of her strange way of eating muffins. In a post on Reddit, the man said he'd never seen his wife eat a muffin before and was completely baffled to discover that she takes a particular approach to the bakery treat.

As we all know, muffins come in a variety of sizes but most of the time the bottom half of the cake will be wrapped in a paper muffin case. Normal practice is to remove the case, throw it away, and then eat the muffin.

But the man's wife does something very different - she eats the case too. He wrote: "My wife eats muffin wrappers. What the f**k do I do??? If it's the small muffins she'll just mouth the whole thing and chew through the paper. We're having breakfast now and she just pulled out a muffin from yesterday. She cut the wrapper up into small pieces and now she's f***ing eating it??? She has not even touched the actual muffin yet."

In comments on his post, the man later said that his wife was actually just chewing on the paper until it was a "wee ball" and then spitting it out. However, he added: "It wouldn't surprise me if she just ate and swallowed the whole thing when I'm not looking, to be honest."

Commenters on the post were split. While some were horrified by his wife's behaviour, others admitted that they actually do the same thing - especially when they were younger. One person even described the paper as "cake-flavoured gum", as they said they would chew it but never swallow it.

One person explained: "I do this, but after I've finished the actual muffin first. There's usually so much muffin stuck to the paper that you get a good load of muffin off of it, then the paper goes in the bin. If I have a knife available, I'd rather scrape the paper off than eat it whole though, but needs must sometimes."

Another added: "I used to eat the wrappers from Chewits, but I was a child and soon realised that it's mental to do so. No harm in what she's doing as long as you can live with it. We all have our oddities."

But a third baffled commenter shared: "I'm in shock that she became your wife before you found this out!"
