Swifties left baffled as Taylor Swift 'goes missing' during VMAs

Taylor Swift confused fans when she seemingly disappeared during the MTV VMAs, leaving Swifties wondering where she went and what she was up to

Taylor Swift fans have been left scratching their heads after the singer 'went missing' during the MTV VMAs.

According to Swifties, the Eras Tour star disappeared multiple times during the award show. While one of her absences is easily explained by her outfit change, fans struggled to understand why they couldn't spot her in the audience later in the show. In fact, she was off-camera for so long that some Swifties thought she'd gone home.

Superfan @badtakesbyclyde recapped their understanding of the strange events in a post on TikTok. Clyde explained that the singer was spotted making her way backstage shortly before she re-emerged in her second outfit of the night.

But soon after she went "missing again", much to the disappointment of fans who'd hoped to see her enjoying the ceremony and accepting her awards. Finally, she returned around an hour later, just in time to collect her award for video of the year, which was the final award of the night, as per Clyde's video.

Swift's absence baffled fans watching the show who took to social media to question what was going on. Someone penned: "She goes from lover to fearless in 30 seconds WHY IS IT TAKING HER THIS LONG?"; a second said: "Atp she's at home sleeping," and another joked: "Come back, be here."

A different fan said: "I wanted to see her receive the awards," and a second lamented: "Wish she’d told me she’d be missing for that long i would’ve been asleep for 1.5 hours by now."

That said, Swifties who tuned in until the end of the show were delighted by the singer's thank-you speech as she accepted the award for video of the year at the end of the evening. In a sweet nod to her boyfriend, Swift thanked the Kansas City Chiefs pro for being "fun and magic".

Talking about the making of her 'Fortnight' music video, Swift said: "When I'd finish a take, and I'd say cut, and we'd be done with that take, I'd always just hear someone like cheering and like 'woo' from across the studio. And that one person was my boyfriend Travis. Everything this man touches turns to happiness and fun and magic."
