Fans of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! have voiced their fury after Melvin Odoom, 44, was booted off the show.

The BBC radio star was voted as the fourth person to leave to camp on Tuesday’s episode, and many viewers claimed that he should have made it into the final. Others went a step further, and suggested that the ITV show was fixed and already had contestants set up to make it to the end.

On X, formerly known as Twitter, the official I’m a Celeb page shared a photo of Melvin in his jungle gear, and jokingly wrote: “He charmed his way through the Jungle and even teed up a date with Carol Vorderman for his return to Blighty! Melvin is the fourth Celeb to say goodbye to Camp! #ImACeleb.”

In response to the post, however, many fans didn’t see the humour of Melvin’s exit, and accused the show of meddling with the public votes. “Rigged,” one person snidely commented. “This is fixed for Coleen Rooney to win, loved Melvin,” said a second, hinting that Wayne Rooney ’s wife was guaranteed the crown.

“So rigged! I mean how ??? Over GK Barry,” asked a third. A fourth fan agreed that GK was set up to make it to the final, and also said that production had made sure Reverend Richard Coles would make it to the end: “It's clear ITV wants GK and Richard in the final. They get sooooooo much air time.”

“What is happening this year why has he gone???” a fifth befuddled viewer demanded. One viewer tried to simmer down the accusations, and reasoned: “Everyone complaining, it's a public vote. From the final 10 we wouldn't begrudge anyone winning. It's a close year this year, and not obvious about who's going to go or not.”

While fans were enraged to see Melvin go, the Strictly Come Dancing star himself didn’t seem too phased to be saying goodbye to camp life. Melvin was in the final two - with Love Island ’s Maura Higgins also on the chopping block. When Melvin’s name was announced as the contestant to leave, he made his happiness clear as he exclaimed: "Yes! No, this is good!" and gave a thumbs up to his co-stars.

When speaking to Ant and Dec for his exit interview, he again made his lack of regrets clear as he asked: "Was I the happiest to leave?” before jokingly adding, “Sorry, I smell." Explaining his thoughts on leaving the jungle, Melvin divulged: "I was ready to go, but it's been a really wild experience. Ups and downs. The best thing about it has been the people." Melvin also gave a shout out to his campmates, saying that they all had his back, despite the fact that "I did struggle on certain days.”
