Morrisons has made a huge change to its loyalty scheme ahead of the busy festive season.

From today, the supermarket chain will be offering shoppers the chance to earn Morrisons More points on all purchases, with every product giving you five More Points. Before this, you could only earn Morrisons More points on selected products.

Like other loyalty schemes, the Morrisons More scheme allows customers to earn points when they spend in-store and online and the more selected products you buy, the more points you earn. Once you accrue 5,000 points, you get a More Card Fiver, which is worth £5. Morrisons says the move will help shoppers earn More Card fivers quicker this Christmas.

However, there are some exceptions, and you will not be awarded points on fuel, cash back, fireworks, lottery, online games and instant tickets, tobacco, tobacco-related products, vapes, prescription medicines and pharmacy services, infant milk or formula, carrier bags, gift vouchers, and gift cards.

Alongside this, Morrisons More members also receive exclusive offers and personalised discounts which they can cash in each week. Over December, shoppers will get the chance to earn 50 points when they buy any Morrisons "The Best" product. The supermarket chain said all the offers will be available both in-store and online, as well as on Amazon when buying Morrisons groceries.

Morrisons says its loyalty scheme offers are signposted in stores, at shelf edges, and via in-store radio. The latest deals are also communicated through the Morrisons More app, and customer emails are sent to More Card holders.

Alex Rogerson, Group Marketing Director at Morrisons, said: ”We wanted to give customers even more bang for their buck when they shop with Morrisons, and now they’ll earn More Points on everything they buy. We remain committed to driving value for our customers however they shop with us, making it easier than ever to bag a Morrisons Fiver and save big while you shop.”

The introduction of five More Card Points on every product follows a recent successful trial in Wales. Recently, the supermarket chain began to roll out its loyalty scheme in 1,000 of its Morrisons Daily convenience stores. This meant that shoppers would earn points when they picked up items at the smaller branches and benefit from cheaper prices.
