With a staggering 200 plus types of cancer, it's understandably overwhelming to know what symptoms to be vigilant for.

However, one thing is certain - early detection of cancer warning signs can significantly improve survival rates. Recognising the signs can be tricky as they can be quite general, such as weight loss and fatigue, or more specific to certain body parts like skin changes.

Other common red flags include lumps, unexplained bleeding or persistent bloating. Yet, there's one lesser-known symptom that isn't as immediately apparent - night sweats. This often overlooked sign, particularly during the summer months, could be an indicator of cancer.

Experts suggest inspecting your bedding each morning for signs of excessive sweating during sleep. If you've been sweating excessively, your sheets and pillows will likely be noticeably damp come morning. Cancer Research states that infection is one of the most prevalent causes of sweating in cancer patients.

Infections can cause a high temperature, leading your body to sweat in an attempt to cool down. Certain types of cancer can also cause increased sweating. People with advanced stages of any type of cancer may experience increased sweating. Cancer can present a broad range of symptoms, so it's crucial to be aware of what is normal for you and inform your doctor if you notice any changes that concern you.

While sweating doesn't automatically indicate cancer, if it's unusual for you, it's essential to discuss it with your doctor.
