Amanda Holden's emotional tribute as she welcomes new addition to family after daughter's big move

Amanda Holden has paired an emotional tribute as she was seen welcoming a new addition to the family. The Britain's Got Talent judge has been dealing with a few changes at home with her eldest daughter also heading off to university.

Last weekend, Amanda revealed Lexi had officially left home. "New beginnings. So excited for our girl," Amanda wrote on her Instagram Story of her 18-year-old daughter. "And just like that… she’s off," she added alongside a string of beautiful photos of the teen which she had captured before turning them into a sweet video.

But a couple of days on, Amanda revealed that she, her husband Chris Hughes and their youngest daughter Hollie had welcomed a new addition to their home - a little puppy she had rescued from Battersea Cats and Dogs Home.

in a video shared by Heart Radio, the moment Amanda first met the little dog was captured while she was heard narrating the encounter. The footage showed the pup showering Amanda with affectionate licks while the star shared with her radio show listeners that her new pet was right by her feet during the live radio broadcast.

"I went to Battersea, got out the car. Walked into the building and she came out of her little holdall and she licked all my foundation off," Amanda explained as she joked: "You know, I wouldn't take it from anyone else. But this little scrap is just so gorgeous."

Amanda praised the pup for being "so well behaved," as the video continued to document their sweet first meeting. She also took the opportunity to encourage her listeners to consider adoption or fostering when thinking about getting a pet, reminding them that "If you're thinking of getting a pet, obviously think carefully, but think about rescuing or fostering. There are so many that need a home."

Amanda has since taken to her Instagram Story and paid tribute to the late Paul O'Grady, who was Battersea's ambassador and hosted his ITV show For the Love of Dogs from the rescue centre.

A memorial has been set up outside the centre and Amanda took her new little pup over. They sat for a picture with Paul's photo, alongside which a message read: "In loving memory of our beloved ambassador Paul O'Grady MBS 1955 - 2023."

The TV and radio star shared alongside the moving picture: "@paulogrady would definitely have nabbed this little one. Think of him often. Especially when I'm here @battersea."
