The 'secret' hidden feature on dishwashers that is leaving people stunned

by · Manchester Evening News

For many households, dishwashers are considered an essential appliance in our kitchens for keeping dishes, glasses and containers sparkling clean.

Whilst the age-old method of washing up in the sink also gets the job done, running the dishwasher every few days is a major time-saver. And there is now a 'trick' that will make the job even easier, involving a 'secret' feature that can help you fit more items in on the top shelf.

A hack recently revealed on TikTok has left people stunned. A viral clip shared by @hotdogsilly and captioned 'My whole life is a lie,' demonstrated how to modify the top shelf's height of the dishwasher to accommodate taller items.

Initially unable to shut the drawer with a stemmed wine glass inside, the savvy TikTok user uncovered a hidden solution. By pressing a lever on each side of the shelf, the height was then easily lowered, allowing those tricky tall items to finally fit.

And @Hotdogsilly wasn't alone in her surprise - as evident in the flood of comments. Many were just as shocked at discovering their dishwasher's clever feature, reports the Mirror.

"Ok so this one video proves that the 1,000 hours I have spent here was actually all worth it," enthused a viewer via Tyla. While many were happy with the newfound trick, questions were then raised about how to revert to the original set-up.

"I just tried it and it worked but I don't know how to get it back up there lol," admitted one individual. Another echoed the dilemma: "I did it but how to fix it now, HELP."

It's also been mentioned that not all dishwashers include this nifty feature. One commenter joked: "My dishwasher doesn't have this so I have ordered a new kitchen."
