Eamonn Holmes trolled for 'destroying' Ruth Langsford with new romance

Eeamonn Holmes has been seen with his new girlfriend Katie Alexander, 42, as the pair enjoyed a cruise together - but the TV presenter has been forced to hit back at trolls.

Eamonn Holmes has been criticised for his new relationship amidst his sun soaked getaway.

The seasoned 64-year-old presenter has been spotted enjoying the warmth with his new partner, Katie Alexander, 42, choosing a cruise over the chilly British climate.

The couple were snapped showing affection as they toured spots like Ibiza and Barcelona, Eamonn with an arm around Katie as they stepped off a cruise liner.

However, not all have toasted to the GB News host's newfound happiness, and he's received a fair share of backlash on social media, with supporters jumping to his defence.

This backlash surfaces merely four months following the announcement that Eamonn and Ruth Langsford were ending their 14-year marriage, the Mirror reports.

On Instagram, detractors lambasted Eamonn's recent romantic developments, with one user commenting: "You have destroyed Ruth And your beautiful son Jack I don't think you will find happy with that flousy."

Another remarked: "He lost such a lady." Nonetheless, many rallied behind Eamonn, prompting him to endorse his fans' supportive remarks by liking them.

An encouraging fan posted: "Keep it positive people or scroll on? It's easy. Stop being so hateful to make yourself feel better! You don't know the facts? ? ? " Amidst online discussions about Eamonn, one person commented: "Everyone learn to be kind comments on here. Just leave him alone."

Another said: "Not interested in stupid comments," and somebody else mentioned: "So many nasty comments! If you can't say anything nice say nothing at all..." While Eamonn seemed to be enjoying his holiday, his estranged wife Ruth and her friends reportedly couldn't believe what they were seeing.

Discussing the couple's cruise, a source shared with The Sun: "The cruise is just the latest proof of their closeness. Katie has been telling pals she and Eamonn are going to be for keeps - and now everyone is starting to believe her."

They continued: "Eamonn's zest for her - the latest being this all-expenses-paid trip - has wowed Ruth and pals. He has found a new lease of life for sure. Everyone is amazed."

However, there's speculation that Eamonn's trip wasn't quite the romantic escape it appeared to be, but was actually part of a free promotional deal. Reports suggest Eamonn went on the cruise as part of a brand partnership with Not Just Travel and has supposedly become an ambassador for the travel company.

Eamonn Holmes reportedly enjoyed a complimentary trip aboard the Virgin Voyages ship, The Scarlet Lady, while creating content for Not Just Travel's social media. A source disclosed to the Mail: "While it looked like Eamonn had whisked Katie off on a no-expense-spared trip away, it didn't actually cost him a penny.

"It was part of his deal with Not Just Travel so if anything, he was actually paid to go which was very fortuitous indeed, especially because he could take a plus one with him," also noting that there was an "element of work" involved as he had to film.

Eamonn and his partner Katie, a relationship counsellor, are believed to have first connected in 2015 after she engaged with one of his social media posts. Their initial friendship blossomed into a romance over time.

It is understood that Eamonn has shared experiences such as a safari park visit with Katie and her children, and they have also attended a Beyonce concert together.
