The new series picks up a week after the events of Matt Reeves’ The Batman (2022). Gotham City is attempting to recover from The Riddler’s terrorist attack, which (spoilers) left Gotham flooded and underworld boss Carmine Falcone dead. As a former lieutenant to Falcone, Cobb is now one of several Gotham mobsters vying for power.

Where to Watch The Penguin Online
The Penguin is an HBO exclusive, and you’ll be able to stream the show on Max. If you don’t have a Max subscription, head here to sign up.

The Penguin Release Date, Episodes
The first episode of The Penguin is coming early, arriving on Max on Thursday, Sept. 19 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. It will be re-aired on HBO over the weekend, including HBO’s regular release day of Sunday. Episode 2 of The Penguin will come out on Sunday, Sept. 29, and the rest of the eight episodes will be released on the following Sundays.

The Penguin stars an almost unrecognizable Colin Farrell as the titular supervillain, who has been (sor-of) re-named Oswald “Oz” Cobb in Reeves’ Batman universe (his original name is Oswald Cobblepot).
The series also stars Cristin Milioti as Sofia Falcone, Clancy Brown as Salvatore Maroni, Rhenzy Feliz as Victor Aguilar, and Michael Zegen as Alberto Falcone.
