Three 'young' kids rushed to hospital and woman cut from car after Wirral crash

Three "young" children are in hospital after a woman was cut from her car following a crash.

Merseyside Police were called to Hoole Road in Woodchurch, Wirral, at around 5pm on Monday following reports of a two car crash. Officers found a red Ford Fiesta, with two people inside, and a white Hyundai i10, with four occupants, that had collided.

Fire crews helped free one woman who was trapped inside the Hyundai by cutting off the roof of the car. The woman was taken to hospital for treatment along with a child who suffered serious injuries and two other kids who had minor injuries.

A 22-year-old man from Upton was later arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He was taken to a police station in Merseyside where he remains in custody. Hoole Road, Grasswood, Pemberton Road and Ferry Brow have been closed while CCTV enquiries are being carried out and motorists are advised to avoid the area.

A spokesperson from Merseyside Police, reported the Liverpool Echo, said: "Merseyside Fire and Rescue Services safely removed a woman from one of the vehicles who has been taken to hospital for treatment. A boy who was in one of the cars has been taken to hospital with serious injuries along with two other boys who have suffered minor injuries.

"A 22-year-old man from Upton was later arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. A spokesperson from Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service said: "Crews were alerted at 5.06pm and on scene shortly after. Two fire engines and the search and rescue team attended. On arrival, crews found a two vehicle road traffic collision with both vehicles on all four wheels. Four occupants from the first vehicle were out prior to Fire Service arrival and were conscious and breathing.

"One occupant was trapped in the vehicle and crews removed the roof of the vehicle. Two occupants from the second vehicle were out prior to Fire Service arrival and were conscious and breathing. Four people were taken to hospital by North West Ambulance Service (NWAS). MFRS crews left the scene at 6.30pm."
