Inside Shaun Evans' quiet life away from spotlight after dating famous singer
by Katie Palmer · Wales OnlineThe upcoming ITV drama, Until I Kill You, recounts the chilling true tale of Delia Balmer, who narrowly escaped death at the hands of her partner John Sweeney after enduring years of abuse and torment.
John Sweeney is portrayed by Endeavour actor Shaun Evans, a 44-year-old Liverpool native also known for his roles in Vigil and Betrayal.
Born to Irish parents, with his father earning a living as a taxi driver and his mother working in a hospital, Shaun, who has an older brother, was part of the National Youth Theatre before relocating to London in his teens to study drama.
His first significant role was as French teacher John Paul Keating in the Channel 4 comedy-drama Teachers, but it was his portrayal of the young Inspector Morse in Endeavour that truly marked his career.
Shaun's talents extend beyond acting, as he has directing credits for Casualty and Endeavour, reports the Mirror.
While little is known about Shaun's current relationship status, he was previously romantically involved with Andrea Corr.
Andrea, an Irish musician and actress, is the lead vocalist of the Celtic folk rock and pop rock band The Corrs, which she formed with her three elder siblings Caroline, Sharon and Jim.
In addition to her music career, Andrea has acted and penned a book about her youth, family and love for music.
The couple were first spotted together in 2003 and remained in a relationship for four years before parting ways.
Since their split, Shaun has maintained a low profile regarding his personal life and expressed his preference for privacy in an interview with Ox in a Box.
He shared his thoughts on the relatively low impact of fame from his role in Endeavour on his personal life: "[Endeavour has] little impact on my life which I like because I'm not a person who has a public persona, or a profile on social media."
"I just like to do my job and then go home and carry on with my life."
Amusingly, he did confess to having a fondness for American singer Patti Smith, noting she's an avid fan of "Endeavour."
In an interview with the Belfast Telegraph, he couldn't contain his admiration: "I'm totally gushing now, but as soon as I finished one of her books, I started it again, because I was so intoxicated with the atmosphere of it. She's something else."
Until I Kill You airs on ITV from November 3
