Luke Littler shows true colours with five-word comment after second darts title in a week

Luke Littler has been in sensational form, and after winning a Pro Tour event in Wigan, he sent a warning to the rest of his rivals with five simple words

Luke Littler has thrown down the gauntlet to big names like Luke Humphries and Michael van Gerwen after clinching a Pro Tour event in Wigan.

The 17-year-old 180-hitting sensation has been on a winning streak, scooping his ninth title of the year with his latest triumph and issued a simple warning to those hoping to oppose him: "It's just what I do."

Since making a splash at Ally Pally where he was the 2024 World Championship runner-up and pocketed a cool £200,000, Littler's meteoric rise is a warning shot to his competitors.

With his sights set on further glory, he's poised to join a prestigious group that includes darts legends Phil Taylor, Peter Wright and Van Gerwen, with his 10th title this year looking increasingly likely.

Known for his incredible adaptability, the teenage prodigy shared that he tweaks his throw to suit his comfort level, whether playing on the floor or the stage. "I do change my throw when I'm on the floor," he told the PDC. "The floor is totally different from the stage, and I'll just find something comfortable, not change it completely."

Commentator Dan Dawson quizzed Littler on his technical adjustments, with the youngster going into detail: "Usually, when I bring up the dart, I flick the flight, or it's just one coming over from the top and downwards. It's just how I feel on the floor."

Switching up his technique without a hitch, the impressive youngster brushed off questions about his ability with a cool, "It's just what I do," sending out a warning signal to fearful competitors.

Meanwhile, up there with Littler is the formidable current world champion and PDC number one Humphries. He may be the only player who has enjoyed a better year than the youngster - having been named world champ alongside winning the Matchplay and World Cup - but that doesn't mean he has Littler's number.

'The Nuke' turned the tables on Humphries swiftly after their first encounter, getting the upper hand in six subsequent meets that spread across contests like the Premier League - which Littler went on to win - and other tournaments including the World Series and Pro Tour.

The skirmishes have continued since, swinging back and forth, but it appears Littler may be starting to suss Humphries out - made evident at Wigan where he breezed to victory, soundly defeating 'Cool Hand' 6-2 courtesy of his revamped throw, reports the Express.

And then there's the towering presence of Van Gerwen, who too is finding his dominance wavering. Although Van Gerwen often outdid Littler in past face-offs and ousted him in the Matchplay last July, their latest showdown in the World Series Finals painted a rather stark picture.

En route to his eighth title, Littler dominated Mighty Mike 11-4 in the semi-final, boasting an impressive average of 107 to MVG's 99 in Amsterdam. Even world number two Michael Smith, who suffered the same fate against Littler in the final, has struggled to compete with the young prodigy recently losing their last four encounters.
