Inside Rebekah Vardy's 'obsession' with Coleen Rooney as she refuses to back down

Coleen Rooney and Rebekah Vardy have been embroiled in a bitter legal battle for the best part of five years, and it seems the drama is far from over as Becky is reportedly 'obsessed' with getting the better of her rival.

It's been five years since Coleen Rooney's bombshell accusation against Rebekah Vardy for allegedly leaking stories to the press, culminating in the high-profile 'Wagatha Christie' trial of 2022 where Coleen triumphed. Yet, the saga continues to unfold.

Last week saw the WAGs back in court clashing over Coleen's £1.8 million legal fees. Rebekah challenged the "sheer magnitude" of the costs, which reportedly included a substantial amount for one of Coleen's lawyers' luxury hotel stay and refreshments.

In response, Coleen's legal representative hit back, dismissing claims about extravagant hotel expenses as "factually incorrect" and argued that the fees would have been lower had Rebekah "conducted this litigation appropriately".

In another win for Coleen, the judge ruled there was no misconduct by her legal team and it was "not appropriate" to slash her legal bill.

Rebekah now faces an order to pay an extra £100,000 on top of the 90% of Coleen's costs she was already instructed to cover, with the final settlement due next year, reports the Mirror.

An insider opened up to OK! claiming that Rebekah Vardy is by no means finished with her legal battle against Coleen Rooney. They stated: "Becky can't help herself and she is determined to get the final say in all of this. She is still furious that the judge ruled in Coleen's favour initially, as she insists she didn't do it. She's upset at this latest ruling, but she's not letting it get her down as she's determined Coleen and her team won't get away with this," indicating an ongoing struggle from Rebekah's end.

The source continued: "There will be another hearing next year where the final bill will be decided and she will make sure her team goes all out to ensure she doesn't pay Coleen's full bill. She won't let this go. Becky has got a thick skin and doesn't care what people are saying. The £100,000 she was ordered to pay was less than Coleen's team wanted, so Becky doesn't see it as a huge loss. She won't be put off by this and she is still determined to get one over on Coleen, one way or another."

Meanwhile, Coleen gained attention last year with her Disney Plus documentary 'The Real Wagatha Story', speaking publicly for the first time alongside her husband Wayne. With activities ranging from Vogue interviews to writing her book 'My Account' Coleen has remained in the limelight.

Meanwhile, insiders suggest that despite Rebekah's seemingly quieter stance, the wife of Leicester City star Jamie, 37, isn't planning to fade into the background anytime soon.

"Many people thought that Becky would just disappear from the public eye after the court case and while she's taken some time away, she recently told her Instagram followers that she was preparing for her comeback. She's of the thinking that all publicity is good publicity and it gets her back in people's minds again. She's not going away, even if Coleen wants her to," the source claims.

"She feels Coleen has really been rubbing it in her face with her documentary, books and interviews and she wants to get the last laugh and won't stop until she does. Becky wants some vindication, but Coleen just wants her to pay so she can finally move on."

And with reports that husband Jamie is working on a documentary about his career, with Rebekah expected to take on a starring role, it could launch her back into the spotlight.

"She knows that Jamie's career will come to an end soon and she wants them to become more of a celebrity couple. The documentary that Jamie is reportedly to be working on will give Becky a chance to talk about the court case again," the source adds. "She will never get over losing the court case or how Coleen outed her, and she won't stop until she feels she's got a little bit of justice for herself.".

Behaviour psychologist Jo Hemmings has provided insights to OK! regarding Vardy's mindset following her legal battle, pointing out the necessity for her to move past the conflict.

She shared grave observations: "Rebekah has a deeply unhealthy fixation on this case," and elaborated by indicating, "In my opinion, I feel her behaviour may be fuelled by anger, resentment and betrayal, perhaps feeling like she has already paid a high professional and personal price for her actions."

Discussing the financial repercussions, she noted: "And the extensive legal costs she is now expected to pay, feels like Coleen, her former friend, is just rubbing salt in the wound by punishing her further. I don't think she has ever recovered from the humiliation it haunts her wherever she goes, eclipsing any previous fame or success that she achieved."

Hemmings also gave a word of caution:"If she doesn't let go of the situation and learn how to move on, this fixation is in danger of consuming her. She may have little positive energy left to give to her friends and family and she could lose or damage those relationships. Ultimately, it could become too much to cope with and she may have some sort of breakdown, where she feels completely overwhelmed by it and wholly emotionally drained."
