Relieved Tony Docherty revealed Julien Vetro is fit and well after collapsing in the dressing room before the win over Kilmarnock.
The on-loan Burnley winger had been due to be on the bench but fainted before the game and had to be taken to hospital. The situation saw the kick-off delayed but Docherty revealed that Vetro got the all-clear and was back to celebrate with his team mates at the final whistle, after their 3-2 victory.
Docherty admitted: “It was very unsettling. Credit to the players for dealing with the way they dealt with it. Julien had an episode in the changing room when we were all sitting just waiting for me to address the team. He just fainted, I think. He was taken up to hospital as a precaution. But he's fine now, I'm glad to see. It's not nice for the players to see that. It was very worrying at the time. We've had a similar situation earlier on this season with Big Mo Sylla.
“It’s difficult for the players and staff to see that but they showed strength of character, real mentality and real resilience. Julien is in the dressing-room now celebrating. He went to hospital as a precaution but he's fine.”
Sylla had a similar incident where he collapsed before the Aberdeen game. Docherty revealed that Mo Sylla was so desperate to be involved in Dundee’s win over Kilmarnock that he flew back from Paris yesterday - just hours after he had become a dad.
The Dundee boss gave his midfielder the option to stay in France but he wanted to play his part against Kilmarnock.
Docherty revealed the Dundee dressing room had dedicated the late and dramatic win to Sylla and his baby son, Kasim.
Docherty said: “We dedicated that win to Mo Sylla’s baby boy, who was born yesterday.
“He was he was in Paris yesterday and he made sure he was on a flight back last night.
“I gave him the opportunity. It's so important, the birth of a child.
“But he made sure he was back and ready for the game.
“That shows the real team mentality we've got. And the mentality of Mo, to be honest. Brilliant.”
