NTAs host Joel Dommett leaves fans perplexed with 'painful' number
by Carolina Piras For Mailonline · Mail OnlineNational Television Awards host Joel Dommett left fans perplexed after displaying his dancing and vocal skills in a hilarious opening number.
The TV sensation, 39, was joined by an array of talented dancers dressed in Charlestone-type gold dresses when he appeared on stage to introduce the hotly-anticipated award ceremony.
But despite his attempt in the opening performance, many viewers were left unimpressed and raced to X sharing their thoughts, with some writing:
'I had no idea Joel Dommett couldn't sing. #NTAs';
'Who on earth thought it was a good idea for Joel Dommett to sing and dance #NTA #NTAs';
'OFFS! Joel Dommett! Please someone tell him….he is NOT a man of many talents or an all rounder! That was painful #NTAs';
'As much as I like Joel Dommett, I do wish was hosting these awards #NTAs';
'Is it just me or is Joel just not funny? #NTAs';
'Does anyone else find Joel Dommett annoying and unfunny, or is it just me? #NTAs';
'Me everytime I have to hear Joel’s voice #NTAs';
'#NTAs Please dont sing Joel...';
'Never let Joel Dommett sing again please #NTAs'.
Yet some fans appreciated the hilarious number, with one praising the TV host: 'What an opening! Bravo!! Can we have an opening as iconic as that every year?! Good Luck to all those up for awards tonight. #NTAs #NTAAwards'.
This year's National Television Awards are taking place at their usual stomping ground at The O2 London in Peninsula Square and will broadcast live from 8pm on ITV.
The NTAs have been at the O2 every year since 2010, with the exception of the rescheduled 2022 bash in Wembley.
Comedian Joel Dommett is hosting the awards ceremony for the fourth time.
Meanwhile Jungle King Sam Thompson and his pal Pete Wicks will be presenting from the red carpet for the first time this year.
