Danny Dyer teases EastEnders fans at National Television Awards 2024

by · Mail Online

Danny Dyer brutally teased EastEnders fans as he shouted: 'Bring Mick back!' while onstage at the National Television Awards 2024 at the O2 Arena, London on Wednesday.

The actor, 47, who portrayed Mick Carter on EastEnders for nine years, was presenting the award for New Drama with his Rivals co-star Katherine Parkinson when the quip came.

Before Danny began reading the nominees, he spotted some current EastEnders stars in the audience and told them he missed them.

Then, addressing the whole audience, he suddenly shouted: 'Bring Mick back!' And added: 'I love you, I miss you. Bring Mick back, do you think they should bring Mick back?'

NTA viewers at home went wild in response to Danny's outburst and flooded X, formerly Twitter, with their thoughts.

Danny Dyer looks unrecognisable in a wig and moustache in new raunchy Disney+ drama Rivals

This does not seem likely, as Danny has been open about the negative impact the role has had on his career.

Danny revealed that casting producers were extremely reluctant to see him due to pre-conceived notions of soap stars.

However, the 'hard man' actor will soon appear in Rivals, an upcoming Disney+ series based on the raunchy book of the same name by Jilly Cooper, 87.

The first series of Rivals was written by Dominic Treadwell-Collins, the former showrunner of EastEnders.

Its ensemble cast also features David Tennant, Aidan Turner, Emily Atack, and Alex Hassell.

Set in the fictional English county of Rutshire, Rivals follows Rupert Campbell-Black (Alex) and Lord Tony Baddingham (David) have a rivalry that seeps into the world of Corinium television station.
